About

CrossFit

Our CrossFit program aims to build proficiency in all 10 general physical skills: strength, speed, endurance, stamina, power, flexibility, coordination, accuracy, agility and balance. It uses multiple modalities such as olympic weightlifting (a ballistic form of weightlifting), powerlifting (weightlifting building raw strength), basic gymnastics strength training, running, rowing, kettlebell training, medicine balls, and more.

Our Group Training Sessions

There are three main components:

  • Skilled Warmup: These are leveled based on ability so you are always challenged and working on new things. They build bodyweight strength and skill as well as skill in olympic weightlifting and kettlebell movement.
  • Strength Work: Heavy barbell lifts or weighted gymnastic movements are done in sets with rest in between to build total strength.
  • Conditioning Workout: This is a workout that uses time in some way to keep the intensity and heart rate up. These can include any exercises, from heavy to light and everything in between. CrossFit conditioning workouts are often shorter at higher intensity and often include a small number of exercises to hit those movements harder.

Group training sessions are varied significantly from day-to-day and can incorporate different amounts of these components (sometimes with the skilled warmup or strength work omitted in favor of a longer conditioning workout).

Getting Started

Since CrossFit works with heavy and skilled movements, introductory training is required before any class open to members can be taken. If you have prior CrossFit experience or experience with CrossFit movements please see the Assessment section below for more information.

Introductory Training Programs

On Ramp Group Training

The On Ramp is a series of 6 classes limited to approximately 8 people that introduces the basics of CrossFit and allows participants to join a CrossFit workout safetly and productively. Most On Ramp Classes are held at 7PM three days a week for two weeks (See link below for currently scheduled dates). These classes consist of skill work geared toward that session’s workout followed by the workout itself. They allow us to find exercise scalings for each individual’s ability and introduce participants to the full range of CrossFit programming in a way that no single class could.

Cost: $89 for a complete On Ramp Series of 6 sessions + free week trial of our Bootcamp classes

Fast Track Personal Training

The Fast Track is a series of 4 personal training sessions that involves personal instruction in the fundamentals of CrossFit followed by a workout. The Fast Track follows the same curriculum as the On Ramp but compresses it and involves a lot more skill work per session. These sessions allow us to find exercise scalings for each individual’s ability and introduce participants to the full range of CrossFit programming in a way that no single class could.

Cost: $239 for a complete Fast Track series of 4 sessions + free week trial of our Bootcamp classes

Assessments

The movements tested are:

  • Air Squat
  • Front Squat
  • Overhead Squat
  • Strict Press
  • Push Press
  • Push Jerk
  • Split Jerk
  • Deadlift
  • Sumo Deadlift High Pull
  • Clean
  • Snatch
  • Kipping Pullup

For those with CrossFit experience or experience with CrossFit movements, we offer assessments to determine if they are able to skip our introductory programs. Assessments consist of a test of movements followed by a workout.

In order to bypass our introductory programs through an assessment, the participant must show a solid foundation in the fundamental movements of CrossFit (see right). If we believe that the participant does not yet have a foundation equivalent to our introductory programs, we may refer him/her to one or two personal training sessions to fill in a few gaps, or to an On Ramp or Fast Track course.

Cost: $40 applicable to first months dues, personal training, or introductory program depending on outcome
